Dissecting the Disappearing Act & Current Play List

No I'm not disappearing. I know it may seem that way due to my inconsistent blog posting in recent weeks. Lemme explain. Yes, I was sick, but there are a few other things going on in my life, both personal and professional, that are occupying large amounts of my time. This all sounds like bull poop to me too. Pffff excuses. Save it home girl.

I'm going to share what's been going on in my personal life soon. I'm not ready yet, as I'm still waiting on results and answers myself. I've gone back and forth over whether or not I want to share these issues here, but as I'm a very open and direct person in real life, I won't censor myself in that way here. I will say this, it has to do with girl problems and it's been induced from my exercise routine and weight loss. Insert Womp de Womp Womp Womp. No bueno. Part of me has felt like if I don't talk about these issue they don't exist, silly girl, and naturally I prefer to focus on what's going right vs. what's going wrong! Nevertheless, I'm 100% positive I'm not the only one suffering from these issues and that's what blogs are for right?! We read to relate and inspire one another. Secrets don't make friends!

I have wanted so badly to toot toot beep beep what's been going on in my professional life, but for obvious reasons I can not. Things are going very well, just extra time consuming at present, way more than the norm. I am LOVING these new changes at work. Great things are coming :)

In blog related news, Crystal F. be sure to check your email lady, because you are the winner of the Artic Zero give away! These give aways are so much fun for me personally. I LOVE sending out an email letting someone know they won a prize. It makes me feel like Santa. Well Mrs.Clause. Mama de Noel. #dailycheese

Weekend Weight

Ask anyone who has ever tried losing weight, the weekends are always the most challenging. Most social occasions take place at this time, lack of structure, pressure from family and friends to eat "normally" aka don't make other people feel guilty about eating trash because you are following a plan. (Different post for another day).

I've been in a vicious cycle for over a month  now, well basically since mid April, when a few things started happening. First, birthdays, a mini vacation, my birthday, friend's birthdays, weddings, my husband's birthday, our wedding anniversary, summer social time in the up swing. I'll do really well all week long, by the time Friday rolls around, I'm feeling fabulous, then something called Saturday happens. Let me tell ya'll about Saturday.

Insert downward spiral that crashes and burns in a dieting train wreck.

A typical Saturday for me begins with a work out. I've been waking up extra early on Saturday morning to get in a run before the summer heat becomes to intense, then I'll run errands and take care of things I didn't get to during the work week. At night, or in this past weekend's case, noon for pool time, it's usually social time aka party time. I do not miss social time. Ever. I've been placing my high carb day on Saturday so that I can enjoy social time without guilt. Saturday is usually the day when I get in my hardest work out so I never feel guilty about a little extra indulgence.

Here's the problem. Sunday rolls around, aka rest day, and then I really want to cheat my diet. This cycle is essentially undoing all of my hard work during the week.

True Confessions: Sunday's Cheat Meal. Womp.
I'm not ready to hit a maintenance phase, but with this pattern, that's exactly where I'm at. I'm going to try and break the cycle this coming weekend. Fingers crossed.

This wasn't the worst dieting weekend I've ever had, I don't feel like a busted can of biscuits today, but I know if I had stuck to my plan all weekend long, I'd feel ten times better without fail. My new goal is to feel as wonderful on a Monday as I did on Friday.

Have you suffered from the weekend weight dilemma?

Weekly Weigh In: Friday Fun: This Post is Random

Did you enter into the Artic Zero give away yesterday? It's set to run through June 27th so you still have time to throw your name into the hat for some awesome low cal, guilt free ice cream! Check it out here

Thursday night, I prepared my Casein powder with an Artic Zero chocolate covered strawberry bar for dessert. Mmm hmmm sweet tooth is satisfied.

1 Scoop Casein mixed with water to Peanut butter like consistency, melt one Artic Zero Chocolate Covered Strawberry Bar on top, drizzle Waldon Farms Calorie Free Chocolate Syrup, Freeze for 30-40 Minutes

For those of you who didn't' read my posts complaining about the nastiest Summer cold I've ever had in my adult life, parts one and two, I'm still in recovery mode. I'm not at 100%. Womp. I've still got the sniffles and I'm feeling weak but it's getting better each day. No I didn't go to the Doctor, but I'm pretty sure I had strep or the flu, something more serious. Why didn't I go to the doctor? Because I'm becoming a naturalistic hippy chick but that is another post for another day.

Sick was a set back. Translation: All that junk I ate while I was sick, was a major set back. Before I got sick, I had confessed to a spiraling out of control peanut butter addiction. The peanut butter has had to go. I've completely cut it from my diet. It's been 5 days since I last ate peanut butter and honestly, I don't miss it one bit.

The peanut butter was controlling me. I know my strengths and I know my weaknesses. Peanut butter had become a major weakness. All that said, day three back on macros and I'm feeling fantastic! Ashley, my coach, check her out here, suggested I let myself even back out and weigh in next week. Holler. I am all for that.

Everyone has bad weeks, even bad months, but that's not a reason to give up. Recommit and try again!

Work outs post summer sick trama/ drama have been AWESOME! Friday morning, I completed this round of speed training via Pinterest, a little over 4 miles. I can not lie, this work out was INTENSE. This run hurt, and it took a lot of self coaching to complete. You can do this. Don't be a pansy. It's only 40 minutes. Keep going, keep going, keep going, beach vacation in 30 days, think about all that peanut butter you been eating gah, RUN RUN RUN!

Sometimes when I write the blog, post work out all high on endorphins and Usher telling me what a bad ass sexy chick I am, It may seem like dang she makes it seems so easy. It's not easy. My brain is telling me the same things everyone else's brain is telling them. Power through! You won't regret it!

Post intense speed training-
Protein Shake & Jamming out to Beat It not to be confused with the King of Pop's Beat It
Saturday AM: Morning run with my Sole Sistas and I can not wait! I haven't done a group run in more than a week. I'm missing my peeps! That said, I am planning to lay extra low this weekend, determined to fully recover from this nasty cold. No beuno it has got to go!

That's all I got today folks. Apparently some fool just named their child North West. My phone is blowing up, the people got to talk about it! Hope you have an AWESOME weekend!

Artic Zero Review & Give Away!

What's your favorite way to beat the summer heat? For me, it's something sweet to eat, a la ice cream, with candy, chocolate, and whipped cream. There's something about summer time and sweets that go hand in hand for me. My favorite way to beat the summer heat? Pool side with a Dirty Monkey! Calorie infested cocktail that flows like water in Mexico. I know from experience- Make you act funny tee hee!

It always seems like a good idea at the time
Can we say highly illegal for those of us watching those lbs?! I've long been in search of a solution. Recently, I've seen a lot of Artic Zero's products through my Instagram feed, from other fit for life peeps whose opinion I highly admire, and I know I had to get on this Artic Zero train everyone's been talking about!

Artic Zero makes 150 calorie fat free pints, 85 calories chocolate covered bars, gluten free, lactose intolerant friendly, low glycemic, high in fiber & protein ice cream substitute. What's up holler!

I got my hot little hands on a sample pack of Artic Zero, all the flavors and the bars, go big or go home! You can check out the sample packs on Artic Zero's Amazon account here. I've been devouring my Artic Zero topped with Walden Farms Calorie Free Chocolate or Caramel Syrups. If you haven't heard of this product yet, you need to get some of this. Seriously. Don't ask questions.

I've also been enjoying my Artic Zero ice cream mixed with my Casen protein and peanut butter. The chocolate covered bars are delicious in all flavors, Mr. Noel has even been eating those! My favorite Artic Zero by the pint flavors are cookies & cream, chocolate, vanilla, mint chocolate, & strawberry!

Hands down my favorite way to prepare my Artic Zero ice cream is as a substitute for my favorite poolside concoction, the Dirty Monkey. We caught onto these coffee esque pina coladas on our summer vacation last year down in Cancun. I had one or two or maybe even three, there's no counting on vacation, daily while we were there. No Judgement Zone. I knew they were ultra high in calories. I watched the bar tenders add a banana, vodka, heavy whipping cream, a large bottle that read simply Pina Colada, and Kahlua in a blender before serving up this calorie infested fab-u-lous-ness. Pina Colada mix is high in everytang. Sugar, Carbs, Fat, and Calories. No Bueno.

Artic Zero Ice Cream, my waistline thanks you!

Elle Noel's Dirty Monkey (heyyyy noowww):

Alright so this is why you're here- give away time! Artic Zero is going to give one lucky reader a sample pack of there products, simply follow the instructions on the rafflecoptor below! You're welcome :)

Elle Noel Gets her Grove Back

This morning, I woke up finally beginning to feel like myself again. I've been opening one eye at a time each morning, eeekkk caution how do I feel today??? Zoom Zoom Zoom! Supernova Girl status today!(Quote that)

Today was the day! No where near 100% BUT light years ahead of the previous days. This nasty summer sickness totally and completely, I can not tell a lie, derailed me from my macro plan. I did not follow the plan. Not even close. I didn't even think the word macro, for nearly a WEEK now. #gritgirlwithexcuses

However, this morning, I packed and prepared for a day back on the macro track.

Photographic Evidence
We're leaving for the beach in one month, and I want to look and feel my best. Time to throw down a challenge. No cheating or deviating from the macro plan in any way. NO EXCUSES. I've delayed starting up my second month with Ashley, details here, as I was to sick to function. I'm leaping back on that plan today. #gritgirlonamission

I feel well enough to outline an exercise plan for the remainder of the week. I have missed this gym. A lot. I contemplated working out Tuesday, however didn't want to relapse again. I worked out hard Friday night and got sick all over again. Basically, I did this whole sick thing to myself. You are so dumb. For Real.

Old Leigh Ann would have never missed going to the gym. In fact, in  a yo-yo cycle I would have used this time to make excuses for the remainder of the week. To say ohhh the week's  already a wash, I'll start again Monday. Taco Bell for dinner? Jillian Michael's said it best, "Old habits die hard, but they do die"

Cardio Circuit Training
Biceps & Triceps

Cardio Circuit Training
Back & Shoulders

Treadmill Run (Speed training)
Jillian Killer Abs Level 3

6 Mile Run
Glutes & Abs

Bike Ride
Jillian Killer Abs Level 3
(Possibly tag along with a friend to another gym?)
Open to Options!

Tomorrow, it's Arctic Zone review and give away time! Who's excited?!
I scream you scream we all scream for low calorie-guilt free ice cream!  (yes, you read that right)

OOTD- You know I'm feeling good again :)

Summer Sick (yes STILL) Update

UPDATE: Currently under NyQuil/ Day Quill induced coma. Just when I think I'm finally feeling better, the summer bug comes back with vengeance. Pray you never come into contact with this delightful cold/flu/strep/ I don't have time for this sick ish that I has been dominating my life for a whole seven days now.

Monday, I actually called in and worked from home. My co-workers will never forgive me if I transfer this bug all around our office. I'm taking it easy and not working out. It's driving me insane to do so. Part of me is fearful if I miss to many gym days, I'll lose everything I've worked so hard for. I know this isn't true, it's the DayQuil talking. I'm just not great at taking it easy. No one is surprised.

Hopefully today, Tuesday, will be my last down and out sick day. It just can't last that much longer. Honestly, I can't recall ever being sick for this long in my adult life. I'm majorly slacking in the blog and weight loss motivation department, due to my nasty sick summer bug, I'd like to introduce ya'll to Wendy at A Daily Does of Del Signore.

Wendy has organized a weekly link up post on Mondays called Motivational Monday! I plan to participate next week and I'd like to encourage all of you to check out the linkup post from this past Monday!

Fingers crossed for Boss Style Elle Noel to make her come back SOON! Puhlease go away summer bug I just wanna go for a run! Sleep normally! Stop Running Fever! Get back to my LIFE!

Since no one likes a pity party, table for one, I'll stop there. Far worse things have happened to people!

Heads up! Give Away and Artic Zone review coming at ya Thursday! You do NOT wanna miss that!

Summer Sick = WOMP!

I've been MIA from blog world for two whole days now. Did ya miss me? Pfff whateves I bet no one even noticed! Two days is a year in digital time!

Update: I'm battling the nastiest summer cold I have ever had in my entire life. Coincidentally, this is also the biggest week in my professional life, and I've been trying to mask said cold for fear of being sent home from work. Ain't no body got time for dat.

The nasty cold feeling began setting in Tuesday afternoon. I decided to take a rest day from the gym. My honey and I celebrated our second anniversary with peanut butter M&M's and popcorn while watching the strangest Tom Hanks film ever made, Cloud Atlas. If you like feeling a little bit lost, this movie is for you. I made it half way through before the NyQuil took me down at 7:30pm (Happy Anniversary honey!).

Wednesday: First thoughts waking up, How will I ever survive this day? The achy sore fever induced feeling, coupled with a raw scratchy throat, would become my personal hell for days. Still, I got dressed, slapped a weak smile on my face, and put in a ten hour day. Coffee works miracles. I still decided to try and work out that afternoon though. Worst idea ever.

I made it through about 30 minutes of my leg routine and had to stop. I don't know if I've ever felt so defeated. I know resting when your body is screaming for a break is intelligent, but the guilt I felt over skipping the gym Tuesday pushed me there Wednesday. I haven't been able to exercise since.

It's very important to note, that when I'm sick, I do not care about what I eat. Not one little bit.

Thursday night we had Chinese for dinner. I had grilled shrimp in veggies with some noodles and rice. Not the worst choice as far as Chinese food goes. I justified this meal to myself as I ate next to nothing all day Thursday. Not a smart choice either.

Why am I telling you this? Because I'm human too. This was my worst eating and exercise week (aside from summer vacation weeks- then I regret nothing) since my whole journey began. I feel miserable this morning. Not only because of the lingering remnants of this nasty stubborn summer cold, but because I haven't exercised, AND I ate trash this week. Eat like trash =  feel like trash.

As I'm devouring my Chinese dinner, because I'm starving since I had Quest Bar for Breakfast and a protein shake for lunch, I get to my fortune cookie. I eat it without hesitation. I've always had this thing with fortune cookies. You have to eat the entire cookie BEFORE reading your fortune. I did just that. Dang that was a good fortune cookie. There it was, my daily motivator had found me, when I'd avoided it.

Touche Fortune Cookie Wisdom, Touche!
I hope and pray I feel well enough to get in some exercise Friday or Saturday. The moral of this story is however, when your body is screaming for some rest. It's ok to take a step back. It's also ok to fall off the wagon and grab every peanut butter M&M you can get your hands on on the way down.

As long as you get back up and try again. That's exactly what I intend to do starting today.

Mr. Noel Guest Post- My First 5k

I've got a treat for ya'll today. Mr.Noel is going to regale you with the tale of his first 5k. Why he decided to run and whether or not he'll ever do another race, forever abandoning his spot as cheerleader at the race day finish line. Today is an extra special day for us. It feels appropriate to share my space on the Internet with him as it's been two whole years since we did this...

This day two years ago, everything about my life changed. For the better. We're not perfect, our relationship is not perfect, but we have always remained true to us. I love you boo, thanks for being you!

Well here I go.  Just like when you are shopping for an engagement ring, got to remember the four C's.  Well when you run a race, got to remember the 5 K's.

The 5ks of Race Running:

Karth Brooks
Kickin Ass

The Lord blessed me with another year on this spinning orb. This past Saturday, the opportunity presented itself to run a 5k with Elle and a few of my other friends.  I ran the 5Ks once when I was in the eighth grade. It was in New Orleans and can't remember my exact time. I think it was about seventeen minutes.  Being a hard core soccer player with ADHD helped at that age. Present day, I am now the recent recipient of the grand title of mid thirties. I have not worked out since football ended my senior year of high school and have a hatred of diet and everything it brings it doesn't bring to the table.  Pun intended. On to the story.

Church Point, Louisiana, my home town of about 4k people. Our annual buggy festival is fixing to begin and I have just signed up my first adult 5k. I'm thinking, "self, you just paid money to run around a town you couldn't drive fast enough out of"

Note -Church Point is a speed trap.   Standing in line at the start/finish I notice I am behind some one with a walker. How am I supposed to beat my wife and rub it in her face if I am trapped behind Estelle Getty in an episode of the Golden Girls, and Blanche isn't even here to fire me up?

We start the race. I am keeping with Elle and my friends. They quickly pace them selves and establish a pace that I can live with.... but not for long

During my high school years, I was one of the honored few to get selected to run the 2 mile for track. Why would I be selected for such an honor? Was it my long, slender build?  My genetic disposition to withstand pain?  Negative,  it was my inability to tell my coach No. Long story short, my long distance running career ended with me competing for second to last place with some other sad soul who drew the short straw in high school track and had very bad limp.   Victory was bitter sweet......for him that day.

Which brings me back to this foolish conquest. 1 mile into this 5k, I am about 300 yards behind Elle. Pacing but losing about 10 yards a minute.  To her credit, she never even looked back to give me a shit eating grin.

I should not be here.  This is going to suck for about an hour.   I will not beat her. Bragging rights?  No, Xbox achievements or Microsoft points can be traded in for this,no. Tough it out now.  You have 2 more miles to go. Oh look the Piggly Wiggly. Tell Regis you are phoning a friend.

Continued on for the next mile, disobeying several traffic laws in the "Cajun Garden of Eden"
Note- if you ever meet some one that claims they are a Cajun, they will know someone from Church Point. I think this is ground zero for the Acadia Invasion.

Back to the story. I now should walk a bit. Not too long, just enough to regain the trust back from my tired legs.  I walked about an eighth of a mile.  My walking pace is a thing of beauty. Lloydes of London once asked me if I could be a body double in case Kathy Ireland ever injured her legs.  That is a different post for a better day than this.  I'm in this deep!

Karth Brooks

I have hit my wall.  I have alternated between jogging and walking for about a half mile now. A song from my random iPhone playlist is taunting me. Garth Brooks- I'm much too young to feel this damn old. My ear buds fall out. Imagine the scene in Aladdin when the genie loses his manacles, then bounces around the clouds. That was me, but no cocaine addiction and slightly less energy, and I don't have hairy knuckles like Robin Williams.  I slowly climb out of my slump. Pick up the pace.

Kick Ass

You have to at least finish running.  If you walk in, it shows weakness. Elle preys on weakness. Plus, if she attacks and your legs get injured, no more Kathy body double gigs.

Channeling my inner Elle Noel, I focus on completing and beating someone.  That twelve year old with the fancy Beats by Dr. Dre, never knew it was coming. Pace quickened stride came back. Home stretch was in sight.

Rounding the last corner saw one of my friends cheering me on. I shoved the little kid out of the way for good measure and plowed through the finish line, leaning forward as if this was the end of the 100 yard dash.

Would I do this again?  Maybe. I caught a slight bug to see where I can push my self.  It was a good feeling. It was over.

I'm greeted by an older gentleman after the race,"Hey didn't you and this young lady take off running together?  She has been waiting on you for the last 10 minutes". Thanks Adam from the "Cajun Garden of Eden". Hand me an apple and be done with it.

Placing in a Race & Weekly Goals

Yap, you read that title correctly, this weekend I placed in a race. For the first time ever! Saturday morning, I ran in the SRA 5k in my husband's home tome of Church Point, Louisiana. If I had to guesstimate, I'd say there were about 70 participants and half of those were runners. The event was put on by a friend of ours so we really wanted to get out and support her!

When I think back to when I first started running, I never could have ever imagined placing in a race, no matter the participant size, would be an option for me. My goals in the beginning were just not to walk. Running the whole time was a big accomplishment. I would have thought the likely hood I'd ever place in a race would be right up there with being just as plausible for me to win an Olympic Gold medal in figure skating.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't gone into the Race thinking I might be able to place. The last small 5k race I ran, a few of the girls in my run group placed, and with that a seed was planted. I wanted to place in a race too!

When placing in a race awards are given for over all finishers and finishers by age group and sex. I knew there was no way I could place overall, but I thought maybe I could place in my age group for women! There were three women running ahead of me, and I realized rather quickly I wasn't going to be able to keep pace with them. They were all running an even 8 minute mile together and chit chatting like I would do when running a 9:30 with my run group. I had set a pace goal of 8:30 minute miles as I was trying to PR. I didn't PR. This summer weather is not my friend. I  finished in 27:06 ( PR is 26:56). My legs weren't feeling 100% (cause I don't rest enough- surprise surprise) and this heat just isn't my friend. I wasn't upset about missing the PR, because I had fun. Guess who ran this one with me.....

My husband's first race- ever!
No one was more surprised that he wanted to run than me. It made me so happy to share this experience with Mr. Noel. I'm hoping he'll catch the running bug and we can have more race experiences together. Even though his sole mission is now to beat me. Just a little competitive that boy. I'm just happy he got out there and ran!

I finished 12th overall, 4th in women, and 2nd for women under 30! Ya know I'm already itching to see if I can place again!

Weekly Work Out Goals:

Killer Abs (morning)
RIPPED (evening)

Treadmill Circuit Training
Shoulders & Back

5 Mile Run (morning)
Leg Day (evening)

Killer Abs (morning)
Weight Training Class (evening)

Morning Run
Triceps & Biceps

6 Mile Run
Glutes & Abs

Rest (Maybe)

I skipped my rest day this week and got in a work out with Sabrina and her husband Sunday afternoon. She introduced me to some new moves and we focused on chest, triceps, and abs sandwiched between 2 20 minute cardio sessions. Awesome work out!

Weekly Weigh In: True Confessions round two....

Finally it's Friday! The weekend is finally here. Thank you Weekend Wendy - say cheeeseeee- girl cause I love ya!

Friday Morning Burn: 40 Minute Incline Walk/Run - Biceps & Triceps
It's been a stressful couple of weeks for me. I've been under a lot of stress in my "real life", nothing I can't handle, in fact the type A in me loves being incredibly busy, I am however, freaking exhausted. I don't talk about this stuff here, because, well, complaining is a waste of time. Sometimes life can be busy and stressful. That's ok, there's light at the end of the tunnel. It is what it is. Anywho, I feel like I've been neglecting my little corner of the internet. I'm wildly behind on responding to emails, like two weeks- bad blogger award goes to.... My goal is to catch up on Sunday. Not just on emails but reading all of my favorite blogs. I am behind, and I am missing ya'll! There it's on the internet so it's going to happen. I love loud capping myself!

I've done fairly well on my macro plan this week. Not squeaky clean and no where near perfection. I've slipped up some. My weight has remained the same the last two weeks and I am a ok with that. I don't know if I've ever felt so fantastic in my own skin. I do, however, need to frequently remind myself that peanut butter is NOT a food group.

I will not stick my fingers in the peanut butter jar, I will not stick my fingers in the peanut butter jar, I will not stick my fingers in the peanut butter jar....

ok maybe just a spoonful....what's it gonna hurt...

WOMP! New week, new day coming up. New chance to get it right! The countdown to vacation is ON! I need a new challenge. I love that so many of you gave your ideas on Instagram this week. I got a kick out of reading every single one. My first thoughts gravitate towards #summerslimdown or #sweatysummer cause ya'll know I think #sweatissexy and that #talkinginhashtagsmakesmecool

So many of us put months of effort into getting ready for vacation or summer, and then after a trip, maybe it's time to start getting the kids ready for school, yourself back to work, and those efforts start to dwindle. Then football season starts, and before you blink five times fast, the holidays have circled back around and we're staring down those New Year's Resolutions yet again. This rounds me to my final thought #breakthecycle

Yo-yoing is no bueno. Stick with those goals, you are worth it!

Casual Friday! Say Heyyyy!!!!!

National Running Day- 5 Mile Run

When training for my half marathon earlier this year, I talked a lot about music. Music has the power to control my runs, to make me give more of myself, at the right moment, the right song can make me feel incredibly alive. Alive and thankful for the physical ability to get out and pound the pavement.

That's still true now, even though I'm not training for a long run. I do feel a little lost without a long run goal. I'm still a few weeks out from beginning training for my next half marathon, which will segway into full marathon training. I still can't believe I'm going to do that- run 26.2 miles....for fun.

Wednesday morning, National Running Day, I forced myself to slang my legs over the side of the bed at 4:30am. The don't wants were at a ten, but I'd committed to meet a few of the ladies from my run group, so I put my feet down and got dressed. It was the first time in a long while that I did not want to run.

The hardest part was getting out the front door. That's what they always say right? It's so true.

When I left home at 4:45am, it was already 80 degrees outside. I was drenched in sweat at 3 miles. Nearing 6am, on my way back to the gym, as I was crossing the river and the sun was making it's way into the sky, my playlist pulled me through. A song came on that reminded me why I run. Why I trade Friday night happy hour for running shoes at 6am Saturday.

It wasn't the fastest 5 miles I've ever run. It wasn't the hardest 5 miles or the easiest 5 miles. It felt like just a run, until I had a moment. Some runs build character, and this was one of them. One that pulled me out of my don't wants. In that moment I felt thankful for my legs. Thankful for my heart beating with purpose. Thankful for this passion I've found when it's just me and the road.
Meet me under shining lights
I've been waiting right here all my life
Feelings you can't deny
That you live and open up your eyes

And I just want to sink into your crazy laughter
Come on make me feel until the pain don't matter
Every second here make my heart beat faster
Think I've finally found what I'm chasing after

Oh, oh, just the beat inside my soul
Take me home, where my dreams are made of gold
In the zone, where the beat is uncontrolled

I know what it feels like, come on make me feel alive

Killer Abs - May Meltdown with Ms. Michaels Review

Over the last several months, I've become a new Jillian Michael's work out DVD addict!  I began with 6 Week Six Pack, you can read that review here, and then launched into Jillian's new DVD Killer ABs.  When Kyra over at It Takes 9 Months, emailed me about a final Operation Red Bikini push with Ms. Jillian Michaels, during the month of May, I knew I was all in! KateKara, KristieMeredith and myself all committed to and completed the #4MChallenge, with one of us even completing her work outs on vacation in Las Vegas. Super star commitment status!

I've never been one to enjoy an at home work out series as there are many distractions at home and I thrive within the social atmosphere that comes with a gym membership. That said, these 30 minute work outs with Jillian fit wonderfully into my schedule, especially early in the morning, no travel time, and on days when the gym is closed.Since I began focusing on core work with Jillian, I have noticed significant fat loss and increased muscle definition in my mid section. Consistency is key with all of Jillian's work outs, which is also the major compliant I hear from others regarding the at home series- The repetitive nature of the DVD is boring! There's really no getting around that fact. It can be boring to complete the same work outs day in and day out. Yes her sayings can get annoying. However, the mute button and an ipod can help to defeat those complaints as well as frequently switching up her DVDS. All of her DVDs are incredibly affordable and require minimum at home equipment.
Jillian does a fantastic job of bridging the gap between fitness levels. I've felt consistently challenged with her work outs, and I'm getting results! I have never in my life felt so fantastic about my stomach. However, I must point out these are combination results from my macro diet, you can't compete with what you eat!

Playing favorites: I prefer Killer Abs to 6 Week Six Pack for a few reasons. Mainly, the set up of the exercise program. 6 Week Six Pack contains two levels of increasing intensity. Within those separate work outs there are two long combinations of exercises, each repeat twice. Killer Abs contains three levels of separate work outs each increasing in intensity. Within each of those separate work outs there are four smaller combinations of exercises each repeated twice. This format works at keeping me entertained and from feeling bored. Additionally, I moved through these levels very quickly. I decided to start with Level One on Killer Abs. This level was far to basic for my fitness level. Aka I was hella bored. I only completed level one on the first day of the May Meltdown. Day Two I moved up to Level Two and completed this routine 10 times, before jumping into Level Three.

I won't sugar coat Level Three. It's incredibly difficult. It assumes a high level of strength and balance as well as core strength. She focuses a heavy amount on planking, push ups, etc. Day one on Level Three, I actually cursed her out loud. The Work Out is KILLER. Hence the name. I'm going to continue with the DVD throughout June as well, because I'm LOVING it.

Which Jillian DVD is your favorite? Why?
